Studying in Germany is a dream for many young people worldwide, and I am truly grateful for having the opportunity to pursue my education here. Prior to arriving, I had no idea how convenient it would be to obtain advanced education in Germany. I had held a notion that Germans might be racist and unwelcoming, but this perspective completely changed upon my arrival.

Student Card Provides Transportation Coverage Across Brandenburg

One of the primary advantages I consistently enjoy as a student in Germany is the reliability, affordability, and infrastructure of the transportation system. While it may not be perfect, it surpasses the transportation systems of all the countries I have visited thus far. As a student at HNEE, I am provided with a student ID card, which is essentially included in my semester fee. The fantastic news is that this card allows me to travel freely throughout the state of Brandenburg. Isn’t that amazing? Even during my internship, which is located hours away by train, I do not have to pay for transportation. I simply need to present my card to the ticket officer, and I’m good to go.

Multiple Scholarship Opportunities

I am proud to say that I have been fortunate enough to receive support from two scholarship programs sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The first scholarship covered an entire semester when I first came to Germany, and the second one supported my three-month internship in Canada. These scholarships are often available at various universities throughout Germany, and I firmly believe that diligent and motivated students can take advantage of these opportunities and enjoy the benefits they offer.

Internship Possibilities

Studying in Germany opens up numerous opportunities to gain practical work experience through internships in your field of study. Personally, I had the privilege of undertaking internships both at the Spreewald Biosphere Reserve and the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region Institute. One internship was accompanied by a scholarship, while the other was not. While it can be challenging to secure an internship where English is the primary means of communication, it can serve as a valuable opportunity for improving your German language skills.

Supportive Atmosphere

An essential factor for ensuring academic success is the presence of a supportive academic environment. Germany, known for its peace and safety, serves as evidence that students can thrive in this country. I can confidently state that my academic achievements are strongly linked to the overall conducive environment provided by Germany.

The benefits of studying in Germany are vast and diverse, and while I will mention only five, I hope they are enough to inspire prospective students to consider studying in Germany and discover additional advantages beyond what I have mentioned.

Multicultural Enrichment

As someone who has always embraced the opportunity to meet individuals from diverse backgrounds in terms of race, color, gender, culture, and societal upbringing, my experience in Germany has broadened my horizons significantly in terms of understanding and interacting with people from different cultures. This aspect stands out as a major advantage of studying in Germany, as you have the opportunity to learn and grow simply by connecting with new people. Germany is a country known for its open-mindedness and welcoming nature, embracing individuals from various parts of the world. In Germany, you can easily explore and adopt any culture that interests you, as the country is a melting pot of diverse cultural influences.

Hi Emmanuel, You can search for DAAD scholarships and scholarship programmes from other organisations in the DAAD scholarship database 👉 www.funding-guide.de. Scholarships differ depending on country of origin and subject area. Moreover, these scholarships have special application requirements. Please read further details relevant to your country in the respective scholarship description on 👉 www.funding-guide.de.
