Over the course of two days, we were not only able to watch the films showcased at the festival, but also actively engage in several master classes led by renowned directors and filmmakers. The festival primarily focused on arthouse films and documentaries, with very few feature films in the lineup.

These festivals provide us students with a valuable chance to not only familiarize ourselves with the works of accomplished filmmakers, but also to establish connections with representatives from diverse international film communities. Attending the festival allowed us to expand our network and forge relationships with professionals in the industry. This kind of interaction and networking is invaluable for us as aspiring filmmakers, as it opens up doors to potential collaborations and future opportunities.

Moreover, participating in the master classes conducted by esteemed directors and filmmakers enriched our knowledge and understanding of the craft. We gained insights into their creative processes, learned about their unique approaches to storytelling, and received valuable advice and guidance from experienced professionals.

These interactions served as a source of inspiration, motivating us to further develop our skills and push the boundaries of our own creativity.

Overall, our participation in the full-length film festival in Hamburg was an immensely rewarding experience. It allowed us to immerse ourselves in the world of cinema, broaden our horizons by exploring diverse genres and styles, and foster connections within the international film community.

These festivals play a pivotal role in shaping us as film students, helping us grow both artistically and professionally. We eagerly look forward to future opportunities to participate in such enriching events and continue our journey as passionate filmmakers.

The photo shows a so-called Klappomat, a small tent in which two chairs and a screen with headphones have been set up. The installation allows one or two people to get to know an audio description for the visually impaired or subtitles for the hearing impaired and guides them through the process step by step. The users learn how difficult it is to describe a complex scene in short words and what requirements successful film descriptions have to meet.
