Adapting and trying to find my place

The past two years of living in Germany have been a whirlwind of learning, adapting, and growing. Moving here to pursue my studies was a big step, there were some uncertainties and difficulties, but it’s been an great journey.

I arrived in Germany in October of 2022, wearing a mask was still mandatory in public transports! It feels like it was in a past life, but two years are not that long ago, although a lot of things changed.

Of course, in the beginning, everything was still a little bit confusing, there is a wide range of possibilities and opportunities, so I was still figuring out what I wanted to do. But I knew this: I wanted to explore Germany and german culture as much as I could.

I still haven’t traveled as much as I wanted to in Germany, and it’s a bit hard to dive in German culture when all of my friends are internationals, but I am doing the best that I can!

The best thing about Germany

After two years, I’ve found so many good things about living in Germany. I can easily travel around Europe and in Germany (besides the late trains), it’s a very multicultural country, there are so many opportunities, etc. But for me, the best that Germany brought me, was the people I’ve met.

All my friends, my co-workers, my teachers, everyone made my time in Germany so much better. All the plans that we made, all the projects and all the things I’ve learned from them have been special and have made me feel more at home.

Is not all fun and games

Living abroad, especially studying abroad, is not easy. It’s a different country, a different language, a different culture, different educational system. I miss my family every single day.  I am not going to lie, I sometimes struggled and wondered if moving to Germany was the right decision. But, just because it’s difficult, it doesn’t mean that it is impossible. I’ve been here for 2 years now. I have completed a master’s degree, I have a job that I love, I’ve met some really nice people. Even though it might seem hard, don’t give up! Everything will be worth it at the end!

The right decision

So, if you’re wondering if Germany would be the best country for you to study, let me tell you: it’s not going to be easy, but it’s all worth it. It’s been two years and I’ve learned so much, I’ve had so many great experiences and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!
