Annotation

The Judicial Administration degree course at the HWR Berlin forms the traineeship for a career in the senior judicial service of the federal states of Berlin, Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt. You will be awarded a place after a successful selection procedure at the higher regional courts of the respective federal state. As independent decision-makers, judicial administrators perform judicial tasks in courts alongside judges and representatives of the public prosecutor's office. As independent judicial administration entities, their decisions are unencumbered by instructions from superiors and are subject only to the law. They perform the tasks assigned by the legislature, e.g. the foreclosure and compulsory administration of real estate, activities in the land registry, in the dunning procedure and in the determination of costs. The degree course is subdivided into six semesters. Students at the HWR Berlin spend the first two semesters at the Faculty of Judicial Administration in order to learn the theoretical foundations of the various areas of law. This is followed alternately by two practical semesters (third and fifth semesters) and two theoretical semesters (fourth and sixth semesters). Appointment as a judicial administrator candidate takes place at the beginning of the education and training and on revocable appointment to the civil service. After successful completion of the three-year traineeship, the career track examination is regularly completed in the October of each year. After successful completion of the career track examination, a Diploma procedure can optionally be undertaken, after the successful completion of which the university awards the academic Diploma degree of Judicial Administrator (University of Applied Sciences). If you would like to apply for this degree programme, please contact the relevant recruitment authority (link: see entrance and admission requirements). If you have any questions about the procedure at the HWR, please contact Ms Bläßing (fb4@hwr-berlin.de).
