The Master's degree in Education and Learning: Culture Politics Society has two defining priorities: It enables students to work on a high academic level and qualifies them for challenging professional fields. The degree course centres on the conceptual and contextualised examination of education and learning. These are framed in various ways. They also owe their form to the transformation of the political field, cultural contexts and social structures and can only be investigated with recourse to advanced methods and ambitious theories. The curriculum is therefore characterised by traditional theories of education science as well as approaches that are explored in other disciplines. In this process, critical education theory meets post-structuralist concepts, gender research in education meets Postcolonial Studies, educational governance research meets concepts of philosophical aesthetics. This approach reflects the belief that education and learning processes can only be appropriately explored if not only the boundaries of the nation state but also those with neighbouring disciplines are overcome. Theoretical and empirical perspectives are then not in competition with each another but are mutually stimulating.
