Target group
The Master's course is aimed at graduates in Mechanical engineering or a related subject. Linguistics is the science of human language. Linguists explore what structures a human language has, which features are common to all languages, and how languages differ systematically. There are points of contact to neighbouring fields in the Humanities and Natural Sciences - in particular to Philosophy, Psychology, Computer Science, Mathematics and Logic. The program includes a deepening of the foundations of general linguistics in the fields of Phonetics & Phonology, Syntax, Semantics and Pragmatics in the first year of study. The focus of the second year of study is the choice of a research area by attending specialised main and advanced seminars, which forms the topic of the final master's thesis.
