Target group
History at the University of Tübingen deals with scientific issues from the areas of Antiquity, the Middle Ages and modern times (up to the present) as well as, over time, the historical auxiliary sciences. Geographically, the European-Atlantic-Mediterranean area including Asia Minor (ancient), Eastern Europe and North America (modern times) as well as the historical geography of south western Germany (medieval and modern times) are taken into account in a comparative perspective. Students of history at the University of Tübingen are instructed to acquire profound specialist knowledge and a broad overview knowledge through thorough, critical study of sources, representations and relevant research contributions, which are able to establish larger historical connections and thus establish important structures, processes, events and phenomena linking understands. You will learn to work independently on scientific questions from the above-mentioned areas. This includes in particular mastery of historical methods, familiarity with the theoretical foundations of historical analysis, certainty in the use of historical terms and clear geographical ideas as well as the ability to use the relevant scientific aids. The Integrated German-French degree in History TübAix (Tübingen-Aix) can be studied in addition to the Master's degree in History.
