In four semesters, the Master’s in Sports Management prepares for sport-related occupational fields at the interface of sport and business and that require management skills. The study programme consists of the main subject Sports Science and the supplementary area of Business Administration, which is offered by the Department of Economic Sciences. The Master's degree course in Sports Management is divided into Philosophy of Science, Theories of Sport Science and Methodology (15 ECTS), Fundamentals of Sports Science (15 ECTS), Profile building within sports science (15 ECTS), Scientific project work (12 ECTS), Profile-specific scientific project work (15 ECTS), Business lectures (12 ECTS), Key qualifications (6 ECTS), Master thesis (30 ECTS). These course contents are taught in modules, which are described in detail in the examination and study regulations as well as in the module handbook. In the Master specialisation of Sports Management, students acquire knowledge and skills in the fields of business administration and sports management, which qualify them for their professional careers. The students: acquire sound knowledge of Sports Science and experience in scientific work, deepen basic knowledge in the fields of Natural Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences in Sports Science, focus on Sports Management topics in in-depth seminars, receive an introduction to business fundamentals and core topics. In addition, the Master specialisation in Sports Management offers students further education opportunities by spending a semester abroad. For example, through the partnership with the Japanese Graduate School of Business of Rikkyo University.
