Annotation

"Cultural and Social Studies" (CuSo) is an English and German-language Bachelor's degree programme. The aim of the degree course is to explore the current social and cultural world through its historical interdependencies and its intersectionally organised structures and discourses. You will be familiarised with the theoretical and methodological approaches of various disciplines (cultural history, literature, linguistics and social sciences). After a basic introduction to the individual academic disciplines, you will deepen your knowledge in interdisciplinary and topic-led fields in your degree course: EUROPE/S – History, Culture, Politics MEDIA − Image, Text and Language DIFFERENCE – Migration, Gender and Diversity The degree course is initially studied in English and provides for the gradual acquisition of German language skills or skills in another foreign language (in addition to English as the dominant language of instruction at the start of the course). The degree course enables you to investigate and critically reflect on complex cultural contexts. Through interdisciplinary insights as well as experience abroad and in professional practice, you will also acquire important key qualifications and intercultural skills for a subsequent Master's degree or direct entry into a career in a wide range of industries, such as: cultural and project management, press and public relations, journalism, education, NGOs, politics, management and personnel consulting or marketing. The Viadrina Bachelor's degree programme in "Cultural and Social Studies" opens up attractive career opportunities and paves the way for you to enter an international working environment through the experience of multilingualism.
