Annotation
Studying Medical Education at the HMU means learning to impart knowledge with enthusiasm and competence. The Bachelor's degree in Medical Education, with a first professional qualification, serves to qualify for work as a practical teacher at vocational schools in the health care sector and as a practical instructor in the training of health professions. The concept of the Bachelor's degree takes account of scientific knowledge and professional practice and leads to the first professional and pedagogical professional competence. In addition to basic academic training for students, the aim of the Bachelor's programme is to impart knowledge about current research topics with a focus on medical education (e.g. in the areas of educational sciences, medical and natural sciences, educational and medical management) and the ability to critically assess them. With regard to extensive teacher training according to KMK standards, the Bachelor's degree represents the first phase of the study, which can be followed up with the Master's degree in Medical Education (M.Ed.). The conception of the course enables access to the public school system (preparatory service / legal traineeship) after completion of the consecutively following master's program in Medical Education (M.Ed.). In the part-time model, the courses take place on a total of five block weekends (Thursday through Monday) per semester. As a rule, the students continue their professional activity during their studies at 50 percent.
