Target group
The consecutive Master's course is a scientific course of study leading to an additional professionally qualifying degree based on the first professionally qualifying degree. Its goal is to provide in-depth scientific knowledge in the areas Pre-Historical and Early Archaeology, Classical Archaeology and Christian Archaeology and Byzantine Art History.
Annotation
New degree programme starting from the 2024 summer semester – subject to approval by the responsible governing and decision-making bodies. If the Bachelor's degree certificate is not available by the application deadline, but at least 135 credit points can be demonstrated: Submit a certificate of study and examination achievements and the average grade achieved so far. (This certificate must be issued by the relevant higher education institution, original or officially authenticated copy). After enrolment, the final degree certificate must be submitted. If the degree was obtained abroad: officially authenticated copy of a certificate of recognition (responsible: Student Services - Admission International).
Admission requirements
Evidence of a Bachelor's degree from a university in Germany or abroad with an archaeological component of at least 60 credit points (CP), of which at least 40 CP from the chosen discipline, or an equivalent degree with an equivalent level of subject-specific pass/fail courses and graded courses. Proficiency in at least two foreign languages. In general, proficiency is deemed sufficient if the applicant can demonstrate at least five years of school education in the first language and at least three years in the other language and a final grade of at least “sufficient”. Prehistoric and Early Archaeology: Proficiency in Latin amounting to two years of school education with a final grade of at least "sufficient" or comparable achievements. “Classical Archaeology” and “Christian Archaeology and Byzantine Art History”: Latin proficiency at the level of the Latinum (Latin proficiency certificate), five years of school education with a final grade of at least "sufficient" or comparable achievements.
