Annotation

The University Mainz offers the Bachelor's degree course starting in the fifth subject-related semester or the Master of Education exclusively for Teaching at Grammar schools. The teaching qualification subject English/Anglais can only be studied in combination with the subject French/Lettres modernes in the German-French degree course. It is recommended to commence studies in the winter semester. Prospective students can familiarise themselves with the subject during a taster day (www.studium.uni-mainz.de/schnuppertage).

Admission requirements

1. A requirement for admission is evidence of French language proficiency obtained through five years of school education completed with a grade of at least “sufficient” or 5 points, or through a certificate of advanced French language proficiency at the level of the Common European Framework of Reference B2. Students are required to have a very good active and passive English language proficiency that enables them to prepare written coursework as well as for the successful completion of oral and written examinations. The teaching qualification subject English/Anglais can only be studied in combination with the subject French/Lettres modernes in the German-French degree course. 2. Passing the "Practical Language Entrance Test" (Common European Framework of Reference C1) ; Students may also provide proof of their command of English through equivalent language certificates.
