The Diploma degree course to become an administrator in the prison system lasts a total of 20 months; gaining in-depth professional experience at a correctional facility lasts for 16 months. The degree course takes place alternately at the Bavarian University of Applied Sciences for Public Service, Department of Judicial Administration in Starnberg and a correctional facility in Bavaria.

Admission requirements

Training within the administration. No direct application at the higher education institution. The course of study requires you to be employed as a civil servant with a revocable appointment at the Bavarian State Ministry of Justice in Munich. This refers the civil servants to the university of applied sciences for the degree course. A prerequisite for admission to a course of study is first of all passing a selection procedure which is standardised across the country and which all applicants in a cohort must take part in. The selection procedure is carried out by the Bavarian Landespersonalausschuss (State Personnel Board).
