Target group
Graduates of Humanities and Civilisation Studies courses, in particular with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in the area of English language Literature Studies and/or Linguistics.
Annotation
The degree course is composed of a major subject area (60 credit points for studies plus 30 credit points for the Master thesis), a minor subject (20 credit points) and a practical area (10 credit points through practicals or project assignment). “Literary Studies” or “Linguistics” can be chosen as the main area. The minor subject can be chosen from: “Cultural Studies”, “Didactics”, “Literary Studies” and “Linguistics”. (Major and minor subject may not be identical.) Language skills: English to level C1/C2 of the Common European Framework. Applicants from abroad are required to show proof of an internationally recognised language certificate (IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge Certificate). The current guideline is an IELTS test overall score of 7.5. In addition, international applicants must demonstrate command of German at level A1 GER (official language certificate required). Language skills required: Required minimum language skills, which must be demonstrated by one or more of the following successfully completed language tests: GER (English): C1/C2; Applicants must provide proof of either a completed, relevant first degree programme at a German university or, for foreign applicants, proof of an internationally recognised language certificate (see section: "Language skills")

First above-average academic degree obtained in at least 6 semesters with an English Studies component of at least 60 credit points (study achievements in English Linguistics, English or American Literature, Anglophone Cultural Studies or Didactics of English).
