Annotation
Mass media shape our everyday lives, what we know about the world, how and what we communicate about. In the field of Specialist Journalism History, you will study how mass media (press, photography, film, radio, television and the internet) has developed historically, how journalism is used here, how people use the media and what about their impact to find out. History comes into play in the field of study in two ways: as an interest in historical change and as a topic of the media. Therefore, you combine Journalism History with History or East European history as your first major subject. Specialised Journalism History is unique in Germany with its combination of history and journalism. Specialised Journalism History can be studied in the degree course History and Cultural Studies (GuK) as a 2nd major subject (70 CP). Information and courses for prospective students can be found at: www.uni-giessen.de/studium/askjustus
