The course is aimed at graduates with a first professional degree in Degree courses in the field of Southeast European Studies, History, Slavic Studies (focus on South), Romance Studies / Romanian Studies, Religious Studies, Political Science or one that is equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in the amount of 180 credits and subject-related studies at a university or equivalent higher education institution in Germany or abroad.

Admission requirements

The technical prerequisite is proof of study achievements in the field of Southeast European Studies, History, South Slavic Studies, Romance Studies / Romanian Studies, Religious Studies or Political Science in the scope of at least 60 credit points and a final grade of at least 'good'. Knowledge of at least one of the following languages at level A2 is also required: Bulgarian, Serbian / Croatian, Romanian, Hungarian, Greek (modern), Turkish, Albanian. International applicants are required to provide proof of command of German at the level of a DSH test (stage 2), a TestDaF (TDN 4) or a recognised equivalent.
