Annotation

The Bachelor's degree programme in Biology combines a broad basic education in biology with the option of autonomous and independent study design, which allows either an early specialisation or generalisation of the study content. In the first 2.5 semesters, compulsory core modules provide a broad overview of the disciplines of biology as well as basic knowledge in chemistry and physics. By the 6th semester, students should deepen four biological disciplines in subject modules of their choice. The degree programme offers students the opportunity to combine biology modules those of other science and humanities subject areas, thus giving the Biology degree course a very personal profile, which may be oriented to practice or work or to further Master’s degree programmes. By selecting the subject and specialisation modules, you can set your personal focus during your degree course. It is possible either to combine modules from different subject areas or to focus on one of the four research areas represented within the department: "Molecular and Cellular Biology of Microorganisms", "Molecular Cell Biology and Plant Physiology", "Development and Physiology of Animals" and "Organismic Biology". This allows you to customise your degree course. The profile modules, which allow you to integrate offers from other subjects into your study programme, are an interesting addition. An integral part of the degree course is the MarSkills programme, in which you acquire attractive and future-oriented key skills.
