Annotation

The Master's degree Romance Language and Cultural Areas is characterised in particular by its cross-cultural conception, which focuses on the examination of the diversity of cultural areas in the Romance-speaking world, their history and their interconnectedness. In addition to teaching content and methods that enable students to analyse and compare the many cultural, literary and linguistic phenomena, both historically and in their current manifestations, particular emphasis is also placed on independent project work. The teaching and learning forms of the course therefore offer, in addition to the traditional formats, independent research and presentation forms in which practical professional skills are also acquired. This includes the independent conception and implementation of projects on topics of linguistics, literature and cultural studies as well as on cultural, social and political events in the Romance-speaking world. The Master's degree Romance Language and Cultural Areas has an interdisciplinary orientation and includes linguistic, literary and cultural studies content in a comparative perspective. An essential component is the study of at least one Romance language, whereby French, Italian or Spanish can be studied as a specialisation. In addition, there is a profile area in which further Romance languages - e.g. Catalan, Portuguese and Romanian - can be studied, but also offers from other institutes and departments can be chosen.
