The Master's program is characterised by a close integration of Anglo-American linguistics, literature and cultural studies and the emphasis on the connection between linguistic-cultural knowledge and linguistic-cultural practice and communication. Through the awareness of common objects and questions, linguistic, textual and intercultural competence is built up and expanded. Coordinated seminars examine, for example, the development of English and American literature and language in different epochs from a linguistic and literary point of view, the interplay of language competence and aesthetic perception in modern art and culture or the emergence of contemporary forms of cultural communication and identity in the Anglo -American language and culture space. The completion of the Master's program English and American Studies provides an excellent basis for entry into highly qualified and demanding occupational fields. In addition to the education sector, the primary areas of activity are primarily in the press, publishing and public relations, media production and in national and international cultural, event and educational management. In economics and politics, completed degree courses open up interesting and highly qualified areas of responsibility, especially in the field of international cooperation. Due to its fundamental research orientation, the course also provides an excellent basis for advanced scientific qualifications in English / American Studies. If the relevant prerequisites are met, access to the PhD program Migration Research and Intercultural Studies at the University of Osnabrück is opened.
